Unit 8 provided information on the future tenses of the tense system. I learnt that the future tense is one of the more complex areas of the English language and that multiple types and ideas can be used with future meanings. However, there are seven commonly used future tenses. These seven forms are the future simple, the future continuous, the future perfect, the future perfect continuous, be going + infinitive, the present simple, and the present continuous; the most frequently used forms of these seven are the be going + infinitive and the present continuous. The present continuous form and the present simple, are normally used as present tenses, but can also be used for future tenses. As with the past and present tenses, there are specific forms and usages associated with each form of the future tense. For example, the continuous forms feature the verb 'to be' plus the 'ing' form of the verb. Therefore, after studying the past, the present and the future tenses the common structure and system for the tense system has become more apparent.
