Phonology is the study, science, analysis and classification of the physical properties of sound. Here we will deal with areas of stress rhythm and intonation. Intonation is generally considered to be the variation in volume and pitch in a whole sentence. It can be rise/ fall intonation indactes you have finished what you want to say it is upto the other person to respond or not. Other is fall/rise pattern it indicates surprise and disagreement, speaker wants the other person to respond or confirm. The speaker has not yet finished speaking. The next one is flat intonation in which speaker really doesnt have to say and soesnot want to communicate. Methods of teaching intonation are nonsense words, by gesture, humming or singing, and the board. In normal speech are more syllables with outstress, or unstressed, than with stress. Techniques for indicating and teaching stress are contrastive stress, by gesture, coral work, the board and stress marks. Articulation, place of articulation are velar, Palatal, palatal-alveolar, alveolar, dental, labio-dental,bilabial and glottal. Mnners of articulation are plosive, fricative, nasal, lateral, africate and approximate.
