Through this program I have gained many things. Not only learning about the topics and units covered in this course but as well as how to be a better teacher when applying these things in the classroom. Before this course I had a decent understanding of the english language and felt that I could teach it to others that didn't know english. But I really only knew the language and not the rules or explanations that went along with them. To be a teacher, I needed to know these things so that I can pass that down to my students. It's not a good feeling when a student asks you a question and you can't answer it because you can't explain why it's right or wrong. I was able to answer a lot of those types of questions by reading some of the material that was featured in this course. I also was able to pick up different ways to make the class more enjoyable while still remaining educational. I plan to use a lot of this information in future classes. First by starting off with a clear and simple lesson plan, and knowing what the objectives are so that we as a class can stay on track and not get too distracted. Second, try to incorporate more fun activities and games. I would try to do this anyways, but I got a lot of great ideas on how to convert games into different types of lessons. Third, as a teacher what should I be doing to help the students, and also how can I encourage them to speak. Honestly though, there are many other things that I can do as a teacher now after completing this course. It has given me a lot of information as well as a lot of confidence for my future as a native speaking english teacher.
