Teach English in Xiyangdian Zhen - Zhumadian Shi
It is 2019, and the world is ever so changing. The globalization of the world’s languages has never been so important. In the more economically booming nations of today, Schools and multi-lingual kindergartens have seen a dramatic rise in students and with this comes a more acute awareness of supplying these schools with early childhood educators skilled in teaching EFL. It is said that the reason for the widespread EFL is the belief that a certain fluency in that language will provide certain social and economic gains. EFL in the early years of childhood education can only be described as something fundamental to positive growth. Students that are exposed to another language learn out of curiosity and the fact that their brains are continually growing only aids in this process. Children tend to learn by interaction and soak up any information in their environments. This is why it is important to start the process of EFL at such an early age. The people who interact with children are very important to the early years of development, especially when these interactions will affect the child’s future. If fluency is the key to learning a new language, then it is ‘key’ to start as soon as possible. This is not to say the average adult cannot learn EFL but one could argue that a child would be more prone to achieving fluency faster than the average adult. There are many factors that can affect an adult’s ability to learn English such as social factors affecting proficiency in the language. With Children, these social factors have not really come into play. Becoming used to a different language through emersion will only help the child better understand the ins and outs of the English language. As an EFL teacher, one has the amazing opportunity to creatively and sensitively shape the educational experience of young children. This widens the importance of multi-cultural respect amongst individual children and activates a positive attitude towards learning new languages and cultures. EFL in early childhood education is a fundamental phase in life and not just a preparation for adulthood. Teaching English as a foreign language can be a daunting task, but when taught to children in kindergarten, it may provide a more wholesome experience. These moments and teaching experiences are for the present as well and can all be linked within a child’s early years. Confidence and motivation lie at the very core of proficient learning and teaching. Of course for children to learn effectively they need a solid foundation in their mother tongue. With the help of a second language such as English, these languages will only become second nature by the time the child is into adulthood. Young children are active learners intent on comprehending their surroundings to make sense to them as they try to control their environments. This is why EFL is so important in early childhood development. If they can obtain and grasp the bare essentials of English as a whole then they will more easily understand their surroundings and the world that we live in today.
