Globalization is the trend of the past, today and the future that can’t be stopped in today's age. The world is becoming smaller and the communication between countries is now linked together within milliseconds through the use of radio waves and a computer. No longer do we wait for news to come from abroad via ship. Online education is definitely a source for educating the masses in the midst of a rapidly changing globalization of the world and economy. Online education gives the teacher and the student more flexibility, more resources at their fingertips, more up to date and current, live information, and the chance and choice to interact in their studies as they would in their business. One thing fueling that globalization is the use of English being the primary language. Since this is the case, many foreign speakers must now learn English in more than just a broad and elementary sense. The must know English in the business industry to work, to travel, to function, to communicate, and to live. Since English is fueling the globalization economy, there must be students and teachers able to fuel the need for this new populace of people to get out into the world and use English in business to interact. Using the computer and online services is just one more dynamic facet of the trend. IF the students are using out of date text books, then they may not be as happy and feel they are not only not learning current English, but may think they are being cheated out of their studies. Online, the teacher has a myriad of methods and resources to use to help achieve this monumental task. The teacher can use the ESA method and understand they can quickly look for suitability and use authentic materials to help them stay up to date and current and help not bore the student. The student benefits from this because they get live materials that are at work in today's global economy and will be able to use for decades to come. The teacher also uses testing, completed much easier and marked quicker in some cases online, to help the student know what they know, learn what they don't, and find a happy balance in between of how to learn what they don't. The student can feel success with testing to, especially when ending achievement testing will show that they retained the materiel. Online services help with the above, but there are small advantages that help wit the motivations of the teacher and student. One line services are available most places on earth and the resource to use them is often a working smart phone. For those teachers and learners in remote location, using the internet for resources must make them just as excited as they are to learn English in a business setting. The remote location no longer is remote. This helps boost their motivation because the student feels part of the entire world, and not just part of their village where no western people have ever come to. Using online services also boost morale. A couple of students can learn something that can be used to benefit an entire nation, immediate collaboration can take place that can help the financial situation of a struggling country, or a new technology can be founded on the spot. The advantages seem endless. Online learning may have some setbacks as well. Equipment issues, remote access, the learning environment and the students and teacher’s agenda could be possible downfalls for this learning. Although there may be pitfalls, the opportunities to excel outweigh the disadvantages.
